Vids: Chromeo and Justice
Tenderoni
Chromeo is gonna play in Berlin (103 Club, Falckensteinstraße) next Thursday, August 9, 2007.
This animation style seems to be en vogue, as also Justice's D.A.N.C.E. video sports it.
JUSTICE : D.A.N.C.E.

Chromeo, the Hoff, Baden vs. Swabia
Long time no (real) post, but I had to finish my mémoire.
So the Chromeo concert in Berlin (1st concert in Germany ever!) got canceled cause Dave1 had an eye disease. Hope he'll get better, soon -- and that the alternate concert will take place when I'm there.
Some tiny random links accumulated over the last weeks:

Some tiny random links accumulated over the last weeks:
- A nice Jazz performance slash pantomime video, implementing the communication character of the Bird's sax involved in a heated debate with Dizzy Gillespie's counterpart (thanks, Steffi)
- German history with American support (thanks, François): David Hasselhoff performing "I've been looking for freedom" on the Berlin wall in 1990. Great guy, great jacket, great scarf, great hair, great song. Totally don't understand his recent decline.
- A tiny glimpse on the upcoming posts on German comedians (thanks, Steven): Mathias Richling, one of the better contemporary German comedians, commenting on the German minister of the interior Wolfgang Schäuble and his recent decisions before, during and after the G8 summit (Richling born Swabian, Schäuble a native of Baden, by the way) . Very acid-tongued but definitely funny (unfortunately only in German).
- ...and, of course, the recent hype clip on the web: 5 seconds of dramatic chipmunk

Chromeo - Fancy Footwork, coming soon
Great news:
Chromeo, the guys I mentioned several times before, will release their new album Fancy Footwork, soon.
Release dates seem to be: Canada - May 8, Australia - May 18, Europe - June 18, UK - July 3, USA - July 24.
So I gotta use my Canada connections to get it earlier.
Plus, they will be on the road: a small tour in Europe in May (London, Barcelona, etc.), North America after.
Check out their myspace site for a preview track and also a gorgeous Feist remix.

Old School B-Boying & Grandmaster Mele Mel
Just to continue some older posts:
On the one hand there have been some posts on B-Boying, such as the one on the crazy styles of Elsewhere or on a pop-locking competition in Paris.
On the other hand some Old-School discussion and media, such as the Newcleus video two months ago.
Furthermore, you know I am a fan of music (that sounds like) from the end of the 70s / beginning of the 80s, such as DJ Mehdi or Chromeo.
Now, there is this German guy who has a weird Old-School fan page, but who also has a mad collection of old HipHop videos, some of which he put up on youtube.
Among others Breakmachine with Streetdance (compare to DJ Mehdi's "I am somebody")
Another highlight is this interview with crazy "Muscle" Grandmaster Mele Mel, who, by the way, just started another embarrassing come back (two years ago Boris and I went to a rather disappointing concert by the Furious Five in Montreal-- ever since, I think they should retire...)

DJ Mehdi - Somebody is a Lucky Boy
It's a pity that blogspot doesn't support tagging of blog entries, cause then it would be easier to connect posts that belong together-- like this one that's in a row with previous posts on the topic of Chromeo.
To sum up I hope you did check out the gorgeous Needy Girl track and the respective video.
Now there is a friend of Chromeo based in Paris who goes by the name of DJ Mehdi and who has just released his new album Lucky Boy.
There are two nice videos: The one from the first single "I am somebody" even features Dave from Chromeo in the final scence.
And there is a second one, a fan video called "I is sumbuddy":

If That's not an Omen: Chromeo on Tour
I like to think it's an omen:
I just moved to the city in which Chromeo is playing one of their three upcoming concerts next week,
but...
the other two concerts are in the two cities in which I used to lived last;
so people in Montreal and Berlin watch out and visit their sets.
(For details about Chromeo check this post of mine)
I suppose a new Chromeo album is about to drop, by the way.

Awesome Treadmill Choreography (a link by Chris)
It somehow felt like the amateur videos that can be found on the Chromeo website (cf. this post) when I watched this ingenious dance for a couple of treadmills and four weird guys. Especially the ice-skating-like movements are gorgeous...

1st Birthday - Musicpost
Whomever of you guys I never told about Chromeo should check out their music, their style and their website. They are of origin Montrealais, and they're just phenomenal. You have to listen especially to their anthem "Needy Girl", and watch the corresponding video (Audio/Video section on chromeo.net).
Dave 1, one of the two Chromeo guys, is the bigger brother of DJ A-Trak, the rocket DJ who, by the way, just released his new website. Check out the trivia behind Chromeo and A-Trak that's available on the web.
P.S.: Chromeo has never been absent in all of my playlists, but it got recently reinforced when I got my hands and ears on the hot Bloc Party Remix of Needy Girl ...and also check the track with Little Brother (their website) in the media section of A-Trak's website.
